A lil ditty on David Craib

"Design should never say, 'Look at me.' It should always say, 'Look at this.'"

This was said by David Craib, owner of a design company called Parable Communications in Canada. He attended the Ontario College of Art. I could not find the date he attended college or when he said the quote. The quote concerns the art of branding in the design world. However, it could also be applied to most aspects of design. The observation of this quote concerning branding though, is ideal. The design of a product should reinforce the idea of the product. It shouldn't look appealing entirely on its own and independent of the product. The packaging should inform the buyer of the product and attract the customer to the product, not the packaging.

  1. Nice summary of the quote and explanation as to why you chose it.
